Spring berries are coming to an end, mangoes are arriving, and the jacarandas are in full bloom, this can only mean that Melbourne Cup and the 2020 Spring Racing Carnival are both just around the corner!

We are delighted to announce that DALTON Catering has been selected by Victoria Racing Club as the official Melbourne Cup Caterer to bring VRC approved race day delights to people’s homes this race day in Brisbane. Given that 2020 is the 160th anniversary of the world-famous Melbourne Cup race and that nobody will be able to enjoy it at Flemington Racecourse, Victoria Racing Club decided to create their own online marketplace to bring race day to their members in their own homes and workplaces.  Given such a good idea, they’ve extended it across the country selecting only the best caterers in Brisbane to partner with, cue DALTON Catering…

For this year’s festivities, we have kept it simple and devised a menu with the option to add a grazing package, local seafood and some sweet treats. We are proud of the fact that all of our food items are made in-house and by hand with the exception of our cheeses which we source locally and at their optimum maturity.

In the ‘A Food Box For Everyone Package’ each guest will receive their box with 6 fresh oysters, dressed lemons & mignonette as well as a second box containing a multitude of delicious treats including 2 of each Tasmanian smoked salmon tartlets with crème fraiche and salmon caviar; organic chicken katsu sando rolls with curry mayonnaise and shaved cabbage; QLD prawn rolls with saffron emulsion and baby cos; duck liver parfait sliders with strawberry paste and cornichons as well as sweet petit fours.  The ‘A Feast in a Box’ package contains all of the above though with the addition of a third box contains our house-made cured meats, pickles and preserves as well as our 3-day fermented sourdough, lavosh and whipped butter.

We are also bringing the bubble to your Melbourne Cup Catering with icy cold champagne delivered to your door from Champagne houses Mumm and Perrier Jouet, as well as our favourite Italian sparkling, San Pellegrino mineral water.

The kids are looked after too this year with a kid’s package ‘Everything Kids Love’ including all the classics, think seriously crunchy fried chicken sandwiches, sausage rolls, party pies and sweet treats.

For those of you who are really wanting the VIP experience, there is the ‘Chef’s Table’ package which is an epicurean adventure at your place. We will turn up and look after you and your guests with champagne and caviar on arrival, followed by a 3-course meal featuring top-quality ingredients and local fresh produce at its spring finest.

We also have excellent grazing boxes laden with our handmade small goods, breads, pickles and preserves for 10+ guests as well as dreamy caviar packages, fresh local prawns and Australia’s finest oysters.
